Filipino Love Stories

Filipino Love Stories

Love blossomed under unusual conditions for the first wave of Filipinos to arrive to the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. This exhibit draws from interviews with, and personal archives of, the wives and children of these first migrants to the agricultural growing region of California's Central Coast. Their love stories reveal the constrained circumstances that marked Filipino American lives as well as the intimate bonds--of marriage, family, and community--forged under such circumstances.
