Title

Benny Betita

Description

According to Salvador Reyes's daughter Genoveba, "My dad hired many of his friends and relatives to be his 'managers' and 'field bosses' – my ‘uncles’, Benny Betita, Felipe Betita (who also became my father’s partner at one time), Paulo Casil, Ernesto Betita, Tony Bolivar, and others. All these men, like my dad, went back to the Philippines several years after having immigrated to the US, and came back with wives. Most of the wives were much younger--this can also be evidenced today by what is left of the older pioneer Filipino population--only the wives and children are left." This photograph was taken by Genoveba Breitstein around 1995 in front of Aida Betita's home. Benny tended to her garden.
