Title

Lily Aradanas Singing "Pakiusap"

Description

Lily is pictured here performing in Pedro Aradanas's hometown at his uncle's school of fashion. After marrying in 1953, Pedro returns to the United States while Lily remained in the Philippines, in part because it was difficult to obtain a visa. While they are apart, Lily maintains a relationship with Pedro's family. In this photograph, Lily is singing "Pakiusap" (meaning "pleading" in Tagalog) while accompanied by a whole orchestra. "Pakiusap" is a love song, which has one line that Lily translated as: "Even though I will die, my love will never end."
