Description
Fermina "Minnie" Antonio is holding daughter JoAnn. Vincente Antonio and Vincent Antonio, Junior ("Tito"), are standing next to them at the family farm in Grover City (now Grover Beach), California. They grew "Kentucky Wonder" or KY beans. On the reverse side of the photograph, "The Farmers of 1944." According to Vincent Antonio, his parents had to purchase land under his mother Fermina Antonio's name because his father, a Filipino migrant, was not allowed to purchase property. Vincente Antonio became a citizen in 1947. He finally bought property (the family home) in Oceano, California under his name in 1949.
